Overview
Tutorial
The LinkedIn Alumni Search Export automation helps you gather information on alumni from specific schools or universities on LinkedIn, based on keywords and filters. This tool is valuable for recruiters, marketers, and educational institutions aiming to build alumni lists, analyze career paths, or track talent. Follow this step-by-step guide to configure the automation, with options to export data to Google Sheets or CSV for easy management and analysis.
Step 1: Log in to the TexAu App and Locate the Automation
Log in to your TexAu account at v2-prod.texau.com. In the Automation Store, use the search bar to find LinkedIn Alumni Search Export. This quick search helps you access the tool to begin setup.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the Automation Store with "LinkedIn Alumni Search Export" entered in the search bar.
Step 2: Connect to LinkedIn with TexAu
To access LinkedIn data, connect your LinkedIn account to TexAu. Click Add Account and select LinkedIn. TexAu offers two secure connection methods:
- Magic Link: Sends a secure link to your email, allowing you to connect without needing to enter cookies manually.
- Add Account: Connects via TexAu’s built-in browser extension, creating a seamless setup.
Tip: Using Magic Link is a quick, secure way to log in without needing cookie management.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the LinkedIn connection options, highlighting both Magic Link and Add Account choices.
Step 3: Select Your Input Source
Once connected to LinkedIn, define the input source to set up your LinkedIn Alumni search criteria. TexAu allows you to enter a single LinkedIn School URL or upload a list of keywords or URLs in bulk via Google Sheets or CSV.
Single School or Keyword: If you’re targeting alumni from a specific school, enter the LinkedIn School URL or relevant keyword. For example, entering "Harvard University" as a keyword will search for LinkedIn profiles linked to this institution.
Google Sheet or CSV for Multiple Schools: To monitor alumni from multiple schools, use a Google Sheet or CSV file. List each school URL or keyword on a separate line, then paste the Google Sheet URL or upload the CSV file in TexAu. This allows TexAu to search for alumni from various institutions in one automation run.
LinkedIn Filters: Customize your LinkedIn School Search URL with filters to refine the results further:
- Location: Narrow down results to alumni currently based in a specific region.
- Industry: Focus on alumni working in particular fields, like technology, finance, or healthcare.
- Graduation Year: Specify graduation year ranges to target certain cohorts, such as recent graduates or alumni from specific decades.
Using these filters helps you gather alumni profiles that match precise criteria relevant to your goals.
Screenshot Suggestion: Display the input source options with LinkedIn School URL, Google Sheet, and CSV options highlighted.
Step 4: Schedule the Automation (Optional)
TexAu’s scheduling feature allows you to run the automation at specific times, which can be helpful if you need regular alumni data updates. Click Schedule and set the start date and time, or configure a Recurrence Frequency to automatically repeat the automation:
- At Regular Intervals (e.g., every 4 hours or every day)
- Once
- Every Day
- On Specific Days of the Week (e.g., Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- On Specific Days of the Month (e.g., the 1st and 15th)
- On Specific Dates (e.g., January 10)
Setting a recurring schedule is useful for ongoing tracking of alumni trends and updates.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the scheduling interface with options for selecting start time and frequency.
Step 5: Set an Iteration Delay (Optional)
To simulate natural browsing behavior and avoid LinkedIn’s security checks, set an Iteration Delay to control the interval between each data extraction. Set both Minimum Delay and Maximum Delay values to vary the intervals, making the extraction appear less automated. Adjust this setting in seconds, minutes, hours, or days as needed.
Screenshot Suggestion: Include a screenshot of the Iteration Delay settings, showing fields for Minimum Delay, Maximum Delay, and time units.
Step 6: Choose Your Output Mode (Optional)
In Output Mode, select how you want the extracted alumni data to be saved. You can export the data to Google Sheets or a CSV file, allowing flexibility in data analysis and sharing.
- Export Options: Choose either Google Sheets or CSV file as the output destination. For Google Sheets, link your Google account to enable direct export to Google Drive.
- Output Management:
- Append (Default): Adds each new dataset to the end of the existing data file, creating a cumulative alumni list.
- Split: Creates a separate file for each run, ideal if you want distinct datasets for each extraction.
- Overwrite: Replaces previous data with the latest results, which is useful if you only need the most recent alumni profiles.
- Duplicate Management: Enable Deduplicate to automatically remove duplicate entries, keeping your dataset organized and free of redundant data.
Tip: Google Sheets export makes it easy to collaborate with your team in real time, particularly useful for alumni network management and analysis.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the output mode options screen with Google Sheets, CSV, and Deduplicate options highlighted.
Step 7: Run the Automation on Cloud or Desktop
After all settings are configured, click Run to start the automation. Choose to run it on Cloud or Desktop mode:
- Cloud: Runs the automation from TexAu’s servers, ideal for hands-off operation.
- Desktop: Runs the automation locally on your device, using your IP address to simulate manual activity.
Tip: Running automations on Desktop mode saves cloud run-time costs and gives you more control over task execution.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the Run button with options for Cloud and Desktop.
Step 8: Access the Data from the Data Store
After the automation completes, go to the Data Store section in TexAu to access the extracted alumni data. Locate the LinkedIn Alumni Search Export automation and click See Data to view or download the results.
Screenshot Suggestion: Display the Data Store screen with the “See Data” button highlighted.
The LinkedIn Alumni Search Export automation is a powerful tool for gathering targeted alumni data from LinkedIn.
