Overview
Tutorial
The LinkedIn Course Scraper automation allows you to extract details about LinkedIn Learning courses, including course titles, instructors, descriptions, and completion rates. This tool is ideal for learning professionals, recruiters, and managers who want to track relevant course information for employee development or professional growth insights. Follow this guide to configure the automation, with options to export data to Google Sheets or CSV for organized tracking.
Step 1: Log in to the TexAu App and Locate the Automation
Log in to your TexAu account at v2-prod.texau.com. In the Automation Store, use the search bar to locate LinkedIn Course Scraper quickly.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the Automation Store screen with "LinkedIn Course Scraper" entered in the search bar.
Step 2: Connect to LinkedIn with TexAu
To allow TexAu to access LinkedIn Learning and extract course data, connect your LinkedIn account. Click Add Account and select LinkedIn. TexAu provides two secure connection methods:
- Magic Link: Sends a secure link to your email for easy login without handling cookies manually.
- Add Account: Connects directly via TexAu’s built-in browser extension for quick setup.
Tip: Magic Link is a secure, simple way to connect to LinkedIn without the need for cookie management.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the LinkedIn connection options, highlighting both Magic Link and Add Account choices.
Step 3: Select Your Input Source
With LinkedIn connected, specify the input source to define which courses you want to scrape. You can enter individual LinkedIn Course URLs or upload a list of URLs using Google Sheets or CSV.
- Single Course URL: For scraping data on a specific course, enter the LinkedIn Course URL in the input field. This option is useful if you’re focused on gathering details from one course.
- Google Sheet or CSV for Multiple Courses: For extracting data from multiple courses, use a Google Sheet or CSV file. List each LinkedIn Course URL in a separate row, then paste the Google Sheet URL or upload the CSV file in TexAu. This setup allows you to gather information from several courses in one run.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the input source options with LinkedIn Course URL, Google Sheet, and CSV options highlighted.
Step 4: Schedule the Automation (Optional)
To update course data at regular intervals, configure the Schedule settings. Click Schedule to set the start date and time, or configure a Recurrence Frequency to automate course data extraction:
- At Regular Intervals (e.g., daily or weekly)
- Once
- Every Day
- On Specific Days of the Week (e.g., every Monday and Wednesday)
- On Specific Days of the Month (e.g., the 1st and 15th)
- On Specific Dates (e.g., March 1)
Scheduling is ideal if you want to keep track of updated or newly added course information over time.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the scheduling interface with options for selecting start time and recurrence frequency.
Step 5: Set an Iteration Delay (Optional)
To avoid LinkedIn’s rate limits, set an Iteration Delay to control the interval between each course data extraction. Configure Minimum Delay and Maximum Delay values to introduce variability, simulating natural browsing. Adjust the delay in seconds, minutes, or hours based on your needs.
Screenshot Suggestion: Include a screenshot of the Iteration Delay settings, showing Minimum Delay, Maximum Delay, and time units.
Step 6: Choose Your Output Mode (Optional)
In Output Mode, select how you want to save and organize the course data. Export data to Google Sheets or CSV file for convenient tracking and analysis.
- Export Options: Choose Google Sheets or CSV file as your output destination. Link your Google account if you select Google Sheets, enabling a direct export to Google Drive.
- Output Management:
- Append (Default): Adds each course data extraction to the end of the existing file, creating a cumulative record of courses.
- Split: Each run generates a new file, helpful for tracking data by session.
- Overwrite: Replaces previous data with the latest course list, ideal if you’re only interested in recent information.
- Duplicate Management: Enable Deduplicate to automatically remove duplicate entries, keeping your data organized and clean.
Tip: Exporting to Google Sheets provides real-time access, making it easy to share data on relevant courses with team members.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the output mode options screen with Google Sheets, CSV, and Deduplicate options highlighted.
Step 7: Run the Automation on Cloud or Desktop
Once configurations are complete, click Run to start the automation. Choose to run on Cloud or Desktop mode:
- Cloud: Runs the automation on TexAu’s servers, ideal for hands-free operation.
- Desktop: Run locally on your device if you prefer using your IP address, which can help simulate manual browsing.
Tip: Running automations on Desktop mode saves cloud runtime costs and offers more control over the extraction process.
Screenshot Suggestion: Show the Run button with Cloud and Desktop options visible.
Step 8: Access the Data from the Data Store
After the automation completes, go to the Data Store section in TexAu to access the extracted course data. Locate the LinkedIn Course Scraper automation and click See Data to view or download the results.
Screenshot Suggestion: Display the Data Store screen with the “See Data” button highlighted.
The LinkedIn Course Scraper automation helps you gather comprehensive information on LinkedIn Learning courses, providing learning professionals, recruiters, and managers with valuable insights. With scheduling, bulk input options, and export to Google Sheets or CSV, this tool simplifies course data tracking for employee development and professional growth strategies.
